Medicinal mushrooms are simply those that are said to have a benefit to people, beyond simple nutrition. Sometimes referred to as functional mushrooms, they are a very rare breed. Let’s break it down;

- There are thought to be around 14,000 species of mushrooms.

- Around 3,000 are considered edible.

- Of those 3,000 edible species, only 200 of them are actually consumed by humans

- Of the 200 edible species, around 12 are considered medicinal or functional mushrooms

If you would like to read more about medicinal mushrooms, their use and some of the clinical studies conducted on them, we’ve written an article on it here.

We like to think our mushrooms are magic, but they’re not psychoactive so you won’t trip on them at all.

The mushrooms we sell are known as medicinal or functional mushrooms and have been shown to help with cognitive function, immune health, and mood to name but a few things.

A further note on magic mushrooms

At this point in time, magic mushrooms (those containing the compound psilocybin) are illegal to possess and consume in Australia.

We’re sincerely hoping that this will change as magic mushrooms have been used in clinical trials to aid people suffering from depression, anxiety, various addictions, and other ailments.

Johns Hopkins University and Imperial College London are some of the institutions leading the charge in exploring the benefits of magic mushrooms. You can read more about the Imperial College study here. And about the centre for psychedelic study opened by Johns Hopkins University here.

At this time, no magic mushrooms are sold on our website.

Yes we do. You can view them here.

Our products can last up to two years when stored properly. Keep the products in an airtight container at household temperature and away from sunlight. You may notice some ‘clumping’ in the powder after a period of time; this will not affect the efficacy of the extract. The powder can still be broken down and is still water soluble.

Yes you can. All of our supplements are dairy and gluten free.

Unfortunately if you’re allergic to mushrooms you shouldn’t consume these products. Please consult your doctor.

A dual extraction process is critical to ensure that the compounds within the mushroom are ‘extracted’ and made bioavailable.

All of our products are dual extracted to ensure the maximum benefit to those taking them. If you would like to read more about our extraction process, we have an article on it here.

All of our extracts are currently certified organic in the USA, Europe and Japan, with Australian certification pending.

No problem! Believe it or not, some of us that work at ShroomBoost don’t like the taste either. 😊 There’s a few ways to incorporate mushrooms into your daily routine without having to cook them or even taste them as they go down. All of our medicinal mushrooms are offered in powdered form for maximum bioavailability. But it also means that they are easy to mix in or stir into a drink or meal. Here are some of our suggestions;

- Add Chaga, Cordyceps and Lion’s Mane to your morning Coffee

- Add Reishi to hot chocolate, a smoothie or a cup of tea

- Add cordyceps to your pre-workout shake or protein powder

- Add any of the medicinal mushrooms to a meal such as a soup, stew, or curry

Please consult your doctor before taking any supplements during pregnancy. At this time, there hasn’t been enough research conducted to determine overall safety.

Absolutely you can. Similar to taking a multivitamin, your body will make use of the various nutrients on offer and process them accordingly.

Actually not at all. All mushrooms have a cell wall called ‘chitin’ which is a tough hard shell. Chitin is found in crabs and lobsters for example. If you don’t cook or use heat extraction in preparing your mushrooms for consumption, much of the mushroom's benefits will pass through without being absorbed by your body.

But don’t just take our word for it; read what chef and now scientist, Jim Fuller has to say about it here; https://www.broadsheet.com.au/national/food-and-drink/article/according-chef-turned-mushroom-scientist-weve-been-cooking-mushrooms-wrong-all-time

Generally speaking, Lion’s Mane, Turkey Tail and Cordyceps are best taken in the morning. Reishi is good for taking at night as it aids in sleep and relaxation.

The most important factor is to take the extracts on a regular basis. Some prefer to take Lion’s Mane in the evening, and Cordyceps ahead of a workout.

Our extracts have up to four times the beat glucan content of most other vendors and have been independently tested at Eurofins labs, a global company. The extract ranges are as follows;

Turkey Tail - (Trametes Versicolor) Polysaccharide >20% β-Glucan >15%

Lion’s Mane - (Hericium erinaceus) Polysaccharide >15% β-Glucan >10%

Reishi - (Ganoderma lucidum) Polysaccharide >15% β-Glucan >10% Triterpenes >4%

Anyone undergoing surgery, or taking prescription medication, or has a medical condition should consult their health care professional before taking our products.
